Vancouver is a great city, don’t get me wrong, but sometimes you need to escape the beauty and laid-back environment of British Columbia in favour of the fast-paced, energetic, city-that-never-sleeps excitement of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Traveling from Vancouver to Las Vegas is practically a hop-skip-jump process, and within a few hours you could be leaving Vancouver International Airport on a Las Vegas Flight and arriving in Vegas in time for dinner and a show.
These days, Vegas deals can be found everywhere, and when you calculate the cost, you might find that a trip from Vancouver to Las Vegas is cheaper than a trip to the Okanagan or Vancouver Island!
Vegas vacations are a great escape from your everyday life, and an affordable getaway from your existence in Vancouver, Canada.
Get it? It’s a play on words, or in this case a play on websites.
There are many clever websites that use mispellings or variations on spellings to attract a target audience. Often, the original website is taken, as are all of the regular TLDs (top level domains), .net, .org, and so people have to become a little bit more creative when they are searching for available domains.
But another good way to build a brand name with your website is by registering a funny domain name that is based on popular culture, a a catch-phrase, or something else that is significant. In the case of Rhymes With, the obvious connection is for the common saying that “nothing rhymes with orange”. Org is the obvious web-centric substitution for this, and so this website/blog has potential for its unique and clever (I think so) domain name.
Don’t be let down or frustrated if you are searching through domain registries looking for something funny, hip, or catchy, because believe me, even in 2008 there are still plenty of clever ideas available…because I haven’t thought of them all yet!
What will we do with the Rhymes With brand? We’re not sure yet, but we’ve completed the first few steps in registering the name, and building the site. Now we just need to find a bucket to hold all of our cash. What rhymes with bucket?
